BUFFALO, MO -- The Lady Irish volleyball team won first place in the Buffalo High School Invitational Tournament on Saturday. The girls began the day with pool play and finished first in their group by only losing one set to Billings in the second game. This impressive record put the Irish at the top of the bracket.

The Lady Irish moved on to beat a tough Willow Springs team in the quarterfinals 25-15, 20-25, 25-13. The semi-finals resulted in a rematch with Stockton. The Irish knew Stockton would be seeking revenge against them after handing them their first loss of the season just last week, but the Lady Irish once again came out on top beating Stockton in straight sets 25-17, 25-21. This advanced the Irish into the championship match against a strong Fair Grove team. It was an exciting hard fought match, with the Lady Irish coming from behind after dropping the first set, but winning the championship 20-25, 25-15, 25-19. This was the second tournament of the year for the Irish, and also the second championship. This brought their record to an impressive 15-1-1. Congratulations to the volleyball team as well as Coach Bates and Coach Satterfield for another successful tournament!
