2023 represents the second annual Springfield Catholic High School hosting of the Catholic soccer showcase. This tournament has run for years under the direction of the boys' program and ultimately the positive feedback created the desire to extend the showcase into the ladies' program. This year we hosted Helias Catholic, Saint Michael the Archangel, and Bishop DuBourg.

 

Players arrived early on Friday, April 28th to join together for group mass with Bishop Rice, followed by lunch and social bonding activities.  The Missouri Catholic Soccer Showcase remains at no charge to the teams that visit. Commemorative t-shirts representing each team are available for purchase.

 

Play kicked off at 5pm Friday, April 28th with St. Micheal vs Bishop DuBourg, followed at 7pm by Springfield Catholic versus Helias Catholic.  Springfield Catholic students in attendance received mini Fightin' Irish soccer balls and were invited to stay for a meet & greet and autograph session with our Lady Irish Varsity following the game.  Our teams faced off again on Saturday morning with Helias playing Bishop DuBourg and Springfield Catholic facing St. Micheal the Archangel. Our Lady Irish went 2-0 with an intensely battled 3-2 victory over Helias Catholic and a double overtime/Penalty Kick victory over St. Michael the Archangel. 

 

Overall this represents a fantastic opportunity for fellowship within the Catholic Church and for our student-athletes. It also generates support from the local students and younger soccer players in the community.
