MT. VERNON, MO -- After a complete meltdown the night before, the Lady Irish bounced back with a solid win on the road at Mount Vernon 37-32 claiming the top seed in the Big 8 Conference crossover game against Nevada at home on Monday, February 14. The JV team also won 37-23 led by a 16-point scoring bonanza by Mackenzie Kruger.

The Varsity squad started the night strong but persistent turnovers enabled the Mountaineers to claw their way back into the game by half, 16-16.
The Irish rallied in the third period, bringing rebound intensity to the boards and slowly extending the lead to 8 by the middle of the 4th.

The Mountaineers aggressive full court press at the end of the game coupled with uncharacteristically poor free throw shooting by the Irish kept the game close until Peyton Wiseman sunk two free throws to ice the game and claim top scoring honors (9) with 3 seconds left to play. Avery Ahlstrand (8), Avery Swisshelm (8) and Katie Galligos (7) rounded out the high scorers in the contest.

After the crossover game against Nevada, the Lady Irish have one remaining Big 8 game against Reeds Spring; a win claims the Big 8 East conference championship.
