BUFFALO, MO -- The Irish softball team ran into a competitive field at the Buffalo Invitational over the weekend to finish the event in fourth place in its pool, which also consisted of Clever, Buffalo and Ava.
Madison Rues and Makenna Phipps each drove in a pair of runs for Springfield Catholic on the four-game day, while Brooklyn Barnes and Rues led the team in hits. Barnes also accounted for 6 strikeouts in a lofty 12.2 innings pitched in one day.
Eight different players racked up hits for the Irish, who begin a six-game week on Monday at Seymour.
