Irish runners compete in Class 3 State Championships

Three Irish girls, Anna Burson, Andrea Gray, and Cate Maynard along with Stephen Keilhofner and Wes Pendleton qualified for the state XC championship in Jefferson City (10/4) The five runners placed in the top fifteen to gain all-district honors and qualify for the state championship.  Keilhofner won his third consecutive district championship and will attempt to become only the third ever Missouri runner to win three state XC individual titles in the past 70 years.  Keilhofner won the meet in 2015 when he lead the Irish to the state title and repeated last year during Catholic's first appearance as a class 3 program.  In 2015, he won the class 2 title.

Although a foot injury prevented Stephen Keilhofner from a third consecutive state championship, the Irish senior gained all-state honors and became Catholic's first ever four time boys' all-state runner.  Lydia Holtmann remains the only Catholic girl runner to have scored all state XC honors each of her four years of competition.  Keilhofner had been sidelined for the three meets prior to district; a meet he won for the third consecutive season.  Athletes must run in the district meet to qualify for the state meet.

Irish sophomore Anna Burson finished 21st at the state race and gained all state status.  Burson became Catholic's second Class 3 all state female runner-the Irish moved to Class 3 last season.
