McClain takes second at Springfield Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, MO -- Springfield Catholic's Morgan McClain places second in Springfield Invitational Tournament. McClain defeated his first opponent from Bolivar in the second round after receiving a bye in the first round. He then went on to defeat Kickapoo's flight one player in the third round with a score of 6-1. In the fourth round, McClain took down Capitol City's number one 6-1. In a rematch of the 2021 Class 3, District 5 finals McClain faced Central's Pranav Mandava. Once again, he defeated Mandava, this time by a score of 6-3. McClain fell in the championship to Willard's number one player Caden Lingenfelser.

Brett Crockett, playing in flight two singles, made it to the third round playing exceptionally well despite a sore shoulder. As a freshman, it was quite an accomplishment. Joey Daues and Jason Schmittling, playing in flight one doubles, went to the quarterfinals losing to a Branson team that went to the finals. Joey and Jason are doing well in the doubles game and playing together as a team.
