CARTHAGE, MO--The soccer team traveled to Carthage for what was promised to be a spirited game. 

 

The Irish took the lead in the first half when Scornia was able to push the ball past the Tigers defense and strike home a laser shot. 

The mood changed in the second half when a Tiger snuck in a goal thru the outstretched arms of the Irish goalkeeper. As the momentum shifted it was not long after a failure to clear the ball resulted in a lead change for Carthage. 

 

After a few substitutions and fresh legs Sanders found Prenger for the tying goal. That's where it got interesting. It took two 10 min overtime's to take the game to penalty kicks, where the more experienced Irish we're finally able to put the game away. Goalkeeper Gassell came up big, while Sanders, Cornwell, Kerr, Garroutte and Rowe all scored. The final Carthage PK missing just right.
