Tynes leads Irish golfers at MSHSAA Championships

COLUMBIA, MO — Our Irish golfers put together a solid round Monday during the first round of the Class 3 boys golf state championships at Columbia Country Club. Catholic posted a team score of 327, putting the Irish in sixth place among nine teams with 18 holes left.

Pembroke Hill lead all teams with a 307, followed by MICDS in second with a 312, John Burroughs third with a 314 and Lutheran South fourth with a 319.

Dane Pucket led the Irish with an opening-round 4-over 76, putting him in a four-way tie for 6th place. Walker Tynes was 6 strokes back, shooting a 77.
 
On day two the Irish dropped from 6th to 9th in team totals but Walker Tynes gained ground on the field by firing a one-over par 73. His round was tied for the lowest round of the day. The 73 brought Walker's two day total to 150, good for 3rd place in the field of 88. The third place finish is the lowest individual finish for a boys Irish golfer.
