Irish defense, Crites, step up against Hollister

The Irish traveled to Hollister to take on the Tigers under new coach Rich Adkins. The Irish were trying to bounce back after a tough road loss against Cassville.

The Irish got to work quick, starting from their own 15 and covering the remaining 85 yards with 16 running plays. The Defense took over forcing a 3 and out for the Tigers and took possession on their own 40 for the second drive of the quarter. The Irish went back to their ground attack with an series of runs from Hunter Brown, Nick Crites, Adrian Coulter, and Zack Gebhard. Tyson Riley capped the 6:14 drive with a scamper from 9 yards that put the Irish up 14-0 with 10 minutes left in the half. 

The Irish continued to control the ball and the clock and added a 3rd touchdown by Nick Crites from 16-yards out to put the Irish up 21-0. This lead would carry them through to halftime. 

The Irish picked up where they left off in the 3rd quarter continuing to stifle the Tigers on Defense and adding two more scores from Tyson Riley and Nick Crites. The Irish defense also played big on the night holding the Tigers to 143 yards from scrimmage and only 7 first downs. Sacks were also registered by Tyler Welch (2) and Kye Alms.

The Irish will hold Marshfield next Friday at home.
