Bio

Courtney Spitz has been at the helm of the Irish baseball program for seven years. Under his direction the Irish have compiled a 104-42 overall record, appeared in five district championship contests, and won one class 3 district championship as well as three class 4 district championships. In his five seasons the Irish have competed for 5 district titles while appearing in the MSHSAA final four and two state championship games (2022 class 3, 2023 class 4).

Coach Spitz was a multisport athlete at Kickapoo High School. Playing baseball all four years, the Chiefs were 22-5 his senior season, capturing a district championship and winning the class 5 sectional game before losing in the state quarterfinal game vs Holt High School. After Kickapoo, Spitz went on to Neosho County Community College where he played one year before completing his playing career at Drury University. As a senior at Drury the Panthers set a school record in wins with an overall mark of 35-19. Spitz began coaching at Drury in 2012. As an Assistant Coach in 2014, the Panthers had the best campaign in their school history with a record of 44-13 and an appearance in the NCAA D2 regional championship. After 3 years as an Assistant Coach at Drury, Spitz spent a summer in the Coastal Plains League as an Assistant Coach for the Morehead City Marlins. In 2015 Spitz served as the Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for Hesston College in Hesston, KS.

Coach Spitz has a Bachelor’s Degree from Drury University in Exercise Sports Science with an emphasis of Sports Management and a Master’s of Education from Drury University in Secondary Curriculum and Instruction.

Courtney Spitz currently resides in Nixa, MO with his wife, Katie Spitz, and their three  children, Ellanore, Walker, and Cal.
